I have been listening to Y100 for a couple years now. It may not be my favorite station but I have always had the greatest respect for it because it doesnt just play all mainstream music. The radio personalitys on it have also been good. I have attended 3 FEZtivals and greatly enjoyed them all. I always had it in my mind as an option to go to more of them or also to FEASTavals in the fall. The line up at these concerts are always varied and have something for everyone into any type of alternative rock. Sonic sessions arent something that I have been to, and I dont own any copies of the cds recorded at them. I do know that they are small personal concerts and that idea always appealed to me. Small concerts done by any (at least somewhat)mainstream artists are no doubt, special. and they will go down in numbers with the loss of sponcership by radio stations.
In conclution, the loss of Y100 as we know it will: take away from these special intimacies connecting artists to fans, take away the large all day festivals that group and comroderate all types of people from around philadelphia + its suroundings, not to mention a large loss in actual revenue and possibly jobs in the whole area (if there are actually less concerts takeing place).
If anyone out there in SE PA, S NJ, DL, or ML reading this likes any alternative rock or has ever been to a Y100 concert, PLEASE go to www.y100rocks.com and sign the petition.
There is no govermant right to have veried music on the radio. Do you think that means it shouldnt be tho?
Its up to us to speak out. Remember, in the 80's it was younge people who demaned "We want our MTV". And eventually they got it.
I know "I want my Y100"(back). Do you???
sorry for the cross posting.
